Why is this statement false? The index of a radical can be any real number greater then 1?

It's not false - the index of a radical CAN be any real number greater than 1. However,

- It would be false to say it can ONLY be a real number greater than 1, as other indicies are also possible

- If your base is negative, then non-integer powers will leave you with answers which are not real numbers. Why is this statement false? The index of a radical can be any real number greater then 1?
It's not indeed. any integer put in the index of a radical would give you a real number.

If a number less than 0 would give you imaginary numbers. Why is this statement false? The index of a radical can be any real number greater then 1?
Yes its false because any radical expression can have an index of lower than 1 also.
