If a police officer reads a false statement what is he supposed to do ?

The police officer must be reported to his superior so that appropriate action will be taken against him.If a police officer reads a false statement what is he supposed to do ?
How does the officer know it is a false statement.....

If it is known to be a false statement the person making the statement can be charged with some sort of obstruction. Depending on the offence or reason for the statement the officer would most likely contact the person again for another statement to verify the response or charge them with a known obstruction law, or just charge the person if commiting an offense. If you have a day in court the officer just presents his fact to the Justice.

The thing is, it would have to be a known false statement and to be obstructing the truth.

It is a grey area, lawyers do it all the time. As long as the statement can be truthful but yet incomplete in some manner it is still a true statement even tough it may be incorrect.
