If a policeman deliberately makes a false written statement what can he be charged with?

Regarding a criminal investigation where he states that a suspect admitted committing an offence that he did not admit to.If a policeman deliberately makes a false written statement what can he be charged with?
It's perverting the course of justice, but you try proving he lied.If a policeman deliberately makes a false written statement what can he be charged with?
perjury
nowt mate, he will just get away with it....... again
B*st*rds dont usually get charged, they all stick together like sh*t to a blanket
If he says that in court it is perjury. If he has done it pre court it is falling below professional standards and is a disciplinary offence within the Force.
Sacked and jailed, you always go to jail for perjury.
