Is the phrase violence begets violence now considered a false statement?

Violence begets violence

Does anyone remember that phrase ?

Is it now considered false ?Is the phrase violence begets violence now considered a false statement?
Yeah today it would be that violence begets Greater violence.Using fire to put out fire is still true only bad thing is every thing in between gets burnt. Is the phrase violence begets violence now considered a false statement?
It's a saying, so it's not something which is to be proved false (for example dead as a door nail, that wouldn't stop it from being a valid and widely used saying if someone pointed out people are not doornails or doornail like when they are dead) - so if there is a case of violence which does not beget further violence the saying can still be used. I think we all know that it is a cautionary saying which speaks to the initiation and retaliation so for that it is still relevant.
I think you could consider it false because sometimes people and nations are just minding their own business then suddenly they are violently attacked.
